Jun Fukuyama joins the cast of the anime as Eisuke Nikaidō (Romanization of the name has not been confirmed).Returning cast members are Yūto Uemura as Minato Narumiya and Kensho it as Shū Fujiwara.Takuya Yamamura returns to direct the new season.

The first television anime premiered in Japan on the NHK-General channel in October 2018. Sentai Filmworks bought an anime license and broadcast the series at Crunchyroll and Hidive (with English dubbing) in Japan.Sentai Filmworks released an anime on a video at home in January 2020.The edition contained original video anime, not allowed 14th episode.

The story begins with Minato Narumiya starting the first year at the local high school.

The anime series is based on the novel Kotoko Ayano of the same title.
